The Acronym (OFA) simply stands for occupational First Aid. OFA is often times referred to as workplace emergency first aid. It most of the cases the introductory part of this training spans between 7-10 hours depending on how in depth the course instructor is willing to go. Occupational First aid level 1 is one of the few safety training in which you will not be required to have previously taken any other safety training as a prerequisite.
To be eligible to take this training, you are required to meet the following under listed criteria
· You must as at the time of taking be at least 16 years of age.
· You must be physically fit to perform basic first aid treatment technique
· You must be capable of writing and passing a multiple-choice examination after the training
Purpose of this training
The primary aim of taking this first aid safety training is to help workers in their various places of work to better understand and easily identify common workplace medical emergencies. Any worker who takes this training will be enlightened on how to take the necessary measure in the workplace in the event of a medical emergency.
What does the training curriculum cover?
· Adult Cardiopulmonary respiration (CPR)
· Shock handling
· How to manage spinal injuries
· How to treat minor wounds
· How to treat burns
· How to treat body sprains
· How to handle emergency situations
What are the training benefits?
The benefits of taking the occupational first aid level 1 safety training can never be overemphasized. Both the worker trained and the company who spend money on training its workers also benefit in a number of ways. Ranging from man hour saving on the part of the part of the company to saving the lives of injured or sick victims. The benefits are just way beyond what you’ll pay for the training.
At the end of the training, you will be required to take a multiple - choice examination in which you must pass with a minimum of 70% before you’ll be issued a certificate. It should be noted that the occupational first aid level 1 certificate issued is only valid for a period of three years.
